Christian living- dealing with one 'oops' at a time…

About

Thanks for visiting my blog! Hopefully, in all the jumbled mess that it is you will find something that will inspire you, make you laugh or make you think. I am still deciding what exactly the purpose of this format is, so there’s a little bit of everything here. So before I apologize for everything and anything, here’s a little bit about me.

I was saved in a non-Christian household in the third grade. Knew nothing ‘deep’ about God until well into adulthood, and spent most of my life in a martial arts do-jang (or do-jo depending on the style). I was never getting married and never having kids. Now there are seven of them (plus six grands), and a husband I could not imagine life without. I love dogs, hate cleaning and have no patience for (most) TV. We also home schooled our children, which was awesome- by the way. I have pastored a church, run my own marial arts club and owned a physical therapy clinic. (Did I mention I am also a physical therapist?)

In New York I was ‘sweet,’ in New Mexico I am ‘from NY’ (which is apparently code for ‘not sweet’). The guys from karate have a completely different opinion of me.

I am not a writer, though somehow I keep publishing books… My heart is that people understand the Word of God so they can more easily apply it to their lives.

Be warned, I also believe sarcasm is an art form, and, if you give me time, will point out examples of it in the Bible. (Or read my New Believer’s Bible Commentaries, because I know I point them out in there!)

My blog is what it is. These are my thoughts. Feel free to disagree with me, but please be nice. (I have feelings too!)

Blessings!

Judy Barrett

By the way, the majority of the excellent photos used on this blog are from my daughter, Matija, and her friend, Kristin. I am incredibly proud of their work, and grateful that they let me use them for free. These girls are amazing! (The poorer quality photos are, of course, my own.)

    • I do not mind links to my posts. Just double-check to make sure you are linking to the post you wanted. This comment showed up under my ‘about’ page. Not sure if you wanted your readership to know more about me, or something else.

  3. Hi Judy, I found your site a year ago looking for an explanation to Job.. I was so pleased with your perspective and how you write I kept reading more and more. I quickly fell in love with your writing and perspective. I’ve been checking back to see about your most recent thoughts. I’m sure you’re using discernment and caution and taking time to really gather up a take on the current epoch. I just wanted to drop a line and let you know I, as one of many appreciate the time and effort you’ve put into this blog, and I’m filled with anticipation to read your new entry. I also am one of many, I’m sure, who understand that quality takes time, and is totally worth waiting for! So no pressure:-) keep up the good work! We sure appreciate you:-)

    • Hi Laura!
Thank you for your wonderful comments! I have been busy with other projects and have unfortunately neglected this site a bit…. BUT, I have two new books- one is available through all retailers, Living Biblically: Women in the Bible and the other is available through LuLu.com only at this time, Star Trek: The Original Series Bible Study- though I am working on getting it into global distribution. My son did point out that while I write, I can use excerpts from my books for my blog…. It was a ‘duh, I should have been doing that!’ moment. Hopefully, there will be more content here going forward! -Judy
